As we transition from Escapes to Adornment Month, I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge how refreshing an escape can be and how often I've found the coolest thing ever while away and looking around a city, village or landscape with fresh eyes. This print of Mt. Hood in Oregon was a find last winter when I was visiting family in Coos Bay.
I found it in this great thrift store called, Beauty and the Beast and I keep it above my desk to remind me of how beautiful Oregon is, how fun it was crawling through that thrift store, and how much I love visiting family.
So as we start on adornment month and looking at all the choices we have for what to hang up, paint, arrange and display we want to know: what treasures have you unearthed while on vacation? What have you brought back with you to remind you of somewhere else? Is it a paint color? A jewelry box? A painting?

Hi everyone, longtime lurker here, first post.
On a trip back in 1993 to the Snoqualmie/North bend area of Washington I made one and only visit to Twin Peaks land, and had a blast. I met several of the stars of the movie, and took in all the locations, including the Salish Lodge. I went to a flea market (as well as some second hand stores) and they were selling misc. junk that they claimed was rented as 'set decorations and props for the movie (Fire Walk With Me), but made no guarantee that any of the stuff made the final cut. I saw a very retro-kitsch West-Bend percolator sitting there, and figured that a coffee pot from "Twin Peaks" was as good a souvenir as any, no matter how...or perhaps because of...its kitsch/ugly factor. Fast forward 3 months later when the movie premieres, and there it is up on the screen, in a morgue scene with Chris Isaak and Kiefer Sutherland. There is no doubt that it's the actual percolator that I got, and with some of the other cool and unusual Twin Peaks stuff I have, it'll one day make a nice little "shrine" on a shelf.
Nice to meet you all, my name's Bill. Just a hop and a skip away from Costa Mesa Ikea, one of my favorit haunts.
