It’s not just a former movie set though, it’s a real place, Piz Gloria, set high in the mountains of Switzerland. Built as a restaurant, it was taken over by the Bond crew partway through construction, renamed, and turned into the evil scientist’s experimental lair. It still serves food, revolving high over the snow and accessible only by cable car. We've got our furnishings all picked out: The Hahn sofa from Room and Board, the Meteor table and a big white fur rug. We'll light a fire, mix up a martini and wait for Daniel..excuse us...Jamesto join us.

There is a hiking trail up to the summit from the valley floor. Of course, for qualified climbers and mountain goats only.
Only the top round part is the revolving restaurant. There is a screening view that shows Her Majesty's Secret Service on a continuous loop under the viewing platform. It's a breathtaking view of the Lauterbrunnen valley, surrounding mountains, Interlaken and the lake.

That's one of my favorite Bond films, along with Goldfinger.
The set designs of the interiors were so elegant - just be careful of the art installations in the lobby downstairs while fighting with Diana Rigg! (OUCH!)

Yes, please! I've always been obsessed with this place too ... and On Her Majesty's... is also my favorite Bond film! I've been dying to visit this place in person.

I had lunch here last winter on a vacation - the food is average, but the view is STUNNING. It also looks out onto Jungfraujoch, an Alpine peak that is the highest point in Europe. More pictures of the peak and the place (including a somewhat jawdropping cable ride up to the summit) are in my Flickr set -
