apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Laura Santtini's Attic Apartment

091709_LauraSanttini01.jpgWe've certainly posted our fair share of open-plan living solutions, but we really love food writer Laura Santtini's attic apartment. While most lofts take advantage of high ceilings and exposed pipes for the quintessential industrial look, Santtini opted for a more comfortable style--even going so far as lowering the ceilings!

I love how she mixed up modern with her own more personal style. Well done!

I love her commitment to deep color, in the living room, the white ceiling though... any interesting ideas for that because pure white makes the room seem boxy (to me). Just curious, if I did the same, what would be beautiful ceiling treatment options?

I also like that it's not a 'magazine sanitized' picture layout but clearly a human being truly lives in the space. It's beautiful, comforting, quirky.

Finally, seriously can't believe she stole my pose, that is EXACTLY how I sit on my sofa... g

I especially love her cocktail and end tables! Her home is a nice blend of warm, comfortable and modern.

I'm failing to see the purple room and the modern decor.

Wow that is one very overly eclectic decorated place and looks like it was done by a stylist, decorator.

The kitchen looks interesting would like to see more of that.

Not feeling that chinsy urban outfitters mirror...actually, it reminds me of a standard 1980's condo that recieved a paint job. The bathroom isn't bad.

That pose is hilarious! I don't know how many more photos of wealthy folks' dwellings I can handle, but I like this.

I don't know how wealthy she is but I find the space nice and definitely looks lived in, even though it may have been staged to an extent for the story (ie, picked up and dusted).

It's a nice space but I don't find it terribly modern, more contemporary in style, but with an ecclectic edge.

The living room walls are purple, but perhaps a purplish brown, or brownish purple, but it's n ot trully purple, nor is it brown.

Very nice, it has the vibe of someone who travels and collects instead of picking things out of a catalog -- it's a place I'd like to visit, but I think that it feels a bit cluttered for me to live in.

Wealthy is usually relative to where you happen to be positioned, if only hopefully temporarily.

you can see the name of the paint color here: http://www.livingetc.com/showcase/houses/Victorian_mansion_attic_flat_article_288387.html?slide=3&thumbStart=1#gallery

and you can hit the Flick Thru link and zoom in on the image of the living room to examine the color yourself. color distortions always exist in images, so it's all debatable.

Interesting that the dining room is impractically nearly as far away from the kitchen as it can possibly be.

I love purple and her walls definitely appear to have a brownish purple look to them.

This house is a winner. But please, remove the stuffed animals from the bed.

This really looks much more like a top floor in a place than an attic.
