Watch what you wish for. I woke up this morning fantasizing the weekend had already arrived, and wishing dearly I wouldn't have to go into work so I could could nab an hour or two more of sleep. But while getting ready during my morning routine, I noted a slight and consistent "Ssssss" sound emanating from underneath the rear of our tub. Like anyone from the Garden of Eden could tell you, hearing that "Sssss" sound means trouble: upon inspection, inside the tub housing, I found a hairpin size hole leak, shooting out a small stream of water into the space underneath the flooring!
Without any plumbing equipment, I only had some lousy masking tape to wrap around the pipe in a useless attempt to control the spray until the plumber arrives. To his credit, our manager called back immediately after I left a frantic message of tales of biblical floods and certain expensive water damage to his property...best to squawk than squeak when it comes to getting your management's attention as a renter. In the meantime, I'm educating myself about minor water pipe repair here, and just cleaning up the house while I wait for the rescue to arrive.
You are so lucky to be dealing with an apt manager that cares! During the recent rain storm our bedroom window started to leak and our call to the manager was greeted only with a "yes we know it leaks inside, its been mentioned by previous renters, hopefully it will stop raining soon". We've also got leaky faucets that kill me with the wasted water, I should take inspiration from you and start looking to repair them myself.
