Look! An Inside Peek Back at Palm Springs

The weather never really diverged away from pleasant here in Southern California all winter, except for a few welcome thunder storms, but we're definitely already looking forward to so spring time excursions out eastward to Palm Springs when opportunity allows (we're all about Motel 6-style or camping accommodations). Especially so after seeing several of these sigh-inducing photos taken and shared by Spins LP over at our AT Los Angeles Flickr Community of a recent trip out to the land of MidCentury modernism...

Me too, especially the use of color. I wish bright colors like that didn't turn all muddy and grim in the Pacific Northwest gloom.

Is that pegboard they used on the toilet cupboards and cabinet? It looks great and is a great idea for storage but I wonder how much of a pain it would be to clean and I wonder if mildew would be a problem due to pegboard being like fibreboard.

OMG, so cool. Love the bathrooms and that second kitchen w/ the original pink cooktop and ovens, wow.

Love those colors as well.

"...I wonder if mildew would be a problem due to pegboard being like fibreboard."

Palm Springs is so intensely dry that I doubt that would be an issue - but a couple coats of Marine Varnish inside and out could solve that problem too.

I don't think it was masonite peg board as we know it today. We had a version of the medicine cabinet at River House. It was a perforated plywood, sorta like luan. Don't know if that was original or not, but it was very durable.

I spy Bisazza tiles in the kitchen backsplash. Stella Alpina? We have the same tiles in our shower.
