We think it looks great, and could totally see this in a powder room (we're still not sure if we'd use a table lamp in our daily use bathroom.) Regardless, Natalie's transformation of an old thrift store lamp was really simple and looks beautiful. See how she did it over at DesignSponge.

I love this and am inspired to do something similar with a lamp base I bought on eBay a few months ago - until now I haven't had an idea where to use it...

i love this too! Such a cute lamp and now it looks like a pair being in front of the mirror! What a great idea!

I've had a little accent lamp on the back of the toilet forever. The only time I ever use the overhead light in the bathroom is when I clean (to be fair, I'm lucky enough to have two big casement windows that go all the way to the floor in the room).
I leave it on in the evenings and cloudy days. It's very cozy and gives off more light than a candle.

Sheesh, don't they do this at restaurant, hotel, and department store bathrooms? Not a totally new idea.

Very attractive etc. But, how safe is it?

So safe its not legal in the UK

There's lots of stuff not legal in the UK, like freedom of speech.

I think it's great. I used to have one in my bathroom because the light it gives off is so much more flattering than overhead lighting. If you use the right lamp it can look great.

bramasoleiowa - do you perhaps mean we don't have a written constitution? (Not necessarily a bad thing)
Building regulations, however, are clearly set out.
