Look! Before & After Wet Bar

091808_wetbar.jpgOh man. When we moved to our condo in West Hollywood many moons ago, our place had an awkward wet bar just like this one: right by the entryway, tucked in an alcove, and basically the landing pad for piles of junk mail, catalogues, and who knows what else. We spotted this wet bar remodel by Perri over at Rate My Space, and really liked the idea behind the solution...

Perri decided to give the wet bar the look of a piece of furniture by refacing the cabinets and adding a granite countertop. It now hides cell phone wires/charging stations and is a handy spot for mail, keys, purses and/or wallets. Nice job, Perri!

Uh, is it just me, or did Perri actually just remove the wet bar?

Yeah, it's no longer a wet bar. It's...uh...a...dry bar now.

Not fond of the doors and drawers. Has sort of an 80s look to it.

That is no longer a wet bar and that design is very model home. Would have been better if they replaced the sink and faucet, added a wine fridge and used more timeless materials.

What a shame because this could have been really cool and added value.

They took out the wet bar because apparently it wasn't useful to them. They added storage to hide their piles of crap they put down when they come in. The fact that it is unfortunately now very bland isn't really key, but if people don't drink or host parties, it's not that great to have a wet bar, don't you think? It seems kind of far from the door to park your junk coming home.. anyway, I don't think it's irredeemable. Change out the handles and pitch the tall vase, start over with the little things and it could make a more interesting area. brb, gone to peek at this.

Ok, I'm back. It's hard to tell if those are Perri's spaces or if she's designed them for other people, but this wet bar transformation seems typical for Perri. I'm trying to figure out how it managed its way to AT, other than you are not married to your wet bar - if you don't need one, change it to a large, seemingly vacant landing and uninteresting landing strip. The bathtub stuffed into an unused closet is a similarly applied idea, and so on and so on and so on.

It doesn't look like a piece of furniture. It still looks like kitchen cabinets and counter. And it's not really a wet bar "remodel" but a wet bar "removal", as everybody said.

I like it - It looks way better than before and has become a useful feature for the homeowner.

It looks like a Days Inn breakfast bar. Where are the blueberry muffins?
