Look!: Belamar Hotel

sidewall.jpg 4 gold stars for the Belamar Hotel in Manhattan Beach. A wall facing a parking lot that could have easily been forgotten was turned into a fantastic graphic treatment. Although I didn't go in to check out the rest of the digs, from the look of their website, they've got it figured out. The hotel went through extensive renovations a year + ago definite thumbs up visually. Has anyone stayed here? if so tell us your experience.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the hotel...its small but great!

Stayed there a year ago and really enjoyed it.
They have a shuttle that will take you to you dinner reservations and pick you up as well!

I totally reccommend it!

i think when it opened, the group that renovated it had fantastic intentions. they had a lot of fun with the interior. it was nice to have something different come to town. sadly, they ran into a lot of issues with managment i've heard.

rumor has it, it's due to close. since the recent overturn of the old managment, things have gone downhill. i stayed there in june and it was a very sad experience.

i would recommend shade as the hotel in which to stay or have cocktails, when visiting manhattan beach.

funny you mention Shade...went there for drinks and found it very lack-luster visually. The blue neon felt very miami vice 8-'s and the interior felt incomplete. I didn't stay the night so I don't have experience to say about room/hotel management but I was disappointed overall.

The drink prices were outrageous as were the pricing to reserve seats in the bar area [a insider got us a deal]. It is the hipster place in MBeach at the moment but not to my design liking.

totally agree in terms of asthetics, richele. shade is "lack luster". but poor mb is trying hard these days and i appreciate that effort!

i was referring to the hospitality factor at belamar. that was what was SO missing. however, belamar is a great example of what you can do with a small budget. shade had the christopher lloyd spank...and a lot of local investors.

and good god, a 15 dollar drink? puleeze. but i will say, that i hear the hospitality end of it is the reason that one would stay.

i hope the belamar can pull themselves up by the boot straps! i do love that great mural on the side of the building!
