Look! Beverly Center Escalator

012208_beverly.jpg

We are desperately grateful that the Beverly Center's Escalator Makeover is finally finished. Not only is it loads easier get to the shopping level, but we love the huge hits of color it got with these incredible hanging lights.

One part Nelson Bubble Lamp, one part Pottery Barn birthday decor, they're playful, modern and huge. If we had high ceilings we'd consider something similar.

The lights are beautiful. I believe they came from a company called Aqua Creations.

I have to say, I mourn the loss of the old escalators. My youth is gone!

Nice. During the 6 months I was in LA in 2002, I would go past the Bev Center many times in that time frame but never got the chance to check it out.

However, the makeover does look nice I will agree.

Is there still a stinky pet store/companion animal prison next to the escalators there? The odor carried far from its premises and was very zoo like. I haven't been there for at least five years but the entire Bev Centre was underwhelming.

That is a HUGE improvement.

I remember that pet store. Can't answer your question though as I haven't been to the Beverly Center for at least 10 years.

Edan, don't worry--I believe the plans for the update called for installing all stored youth within the new escalator housing. Enjoy!

JonD--Yes the pet store is still there, though they are doing a fine job controlling the stink. It's hard to believe that pet stores in malls still exist.
