While we're lusting after all the fantastic pieces in this room (painted collage of picture frames! The tripod chair! The blue mushroom lamp! The yellow basketweave headboard and matching nightstands!), we simply can't deny that the ceiling of globes is nothing short of amazing. From the looks of things, it appears that there could be small light bulbs hidden in each one...wonder how it looks at night? Hmmm...there could be an experimental DIY project on the horizon...

really? sure doesn't do it for me.

I like globes as much as the next person, but this seems a but strange. Perhaps a shelf to display the globes who be more entrancing.
Globes are pretty sweet though. Never have too many globes...

amazing is not the word I'd use! Fascinating, like a trainwreck for example, is more like it.

The globe ceiling is a little weird. Not sure I would want that hanging over my head. I would be too worried that one would fall off and konk me on the head. Also, too much going on in this room...it's overwhelming.
view suzy8track's profile
huh. Not sure I get this one.

I don't get it...

no thank you.

love circular rugs. not from flor. does anyone know where to find them?
view jeffnyc's profile
The way the globes are position, makes it look like a thousand eyes are looking at you. Er, no thanks!

Ikea has rugs like that, but the ones I've seen have been brighter colors.
A fixture made of three globes might have been cool. This is just creepy.

I really like the rugs, and the squares on the wall, but the globes look really weird on the ceiling. Like alien pods waiting to hatch. Although that could be because I recently watched Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

i'm with everyone else. doesn't do it for me. there are too many novelty pieces in one room and the globes are out of control!

Lusting? After that stuff? Ha. I'm not being cruel, just having fun. But, seriously, that room shouts out in colorful depression. It wants to be more. To be the cute girl. Alas, it will always be known as Laura Palmer's best friend and never get out of its own way. The Eames were clever with their Tchotchkes. This is much more institutional. In a bad way.

I prefer my bedroom to be more serene and less distracting.

nothing about this room do WE like!
view poptart's profile
i like the mushroom lamp only. the rugs seem like a tripping hazard. and what is up with the two white...lamps?...on either side of the bed? the globes seem pointless as you can only see the bottom of most of them, not the 'pretty' parts.

this looks like an "art" student who is trying too hard. and i mean that, as an artist of sorts myself, in the nicest way.
view Bobbycat5's profile
how are things rigged? its like a huge f'ing nightmare....not to mention the dots on the floor give me a headache. this room is for someone on a lot of drugs.

Blech. No offense.

I think this is a great 'showroom' design, but I think I would feel overwhelmed by chaos if it were my ACTUAL bedroom.

That ceiling could induce frigidity.. I'll have none of that in my bedroom thank you.

@kimg924: yes. trainwreck.

Tripod chair - yay. Yellow headboard - yay. Mushroom lamp - hm. Globus art on ceiling - wtf.
Btw, was it always ATs "privacy" policy that personally identifiable information was going to be shared with "affiliated" companies?

I love my globe collection, I don't live in earthquake country, and yet that ceiling gives me the heebie-jeebies. It looks like rows of giant eyeballs.
view Cassis's profile
I hate it, but do like the idea of a single globe light, maybe like a pendant light? These are just creepy and I would be way to tense laying in bed wondering when one will fall on my face.
Also, the rug(s). What the heck is with the rug.
view aladywhoknows's profile
The little chair and the mushroom lamp would be fabulous for a little gir's Alice in Wonderland themed room. Or smurphs. Otherwise no. The rugs would drive me nuts. They would create some serious o.c.d. habits.
view parsons3's profile
Nope. Not doing it for me. (Oh, and someone needs to learn how to make a bed!)
view rockypondgirl's profile
Wow - It does look like eyeballs, doesn't it?

Kinda freaky...they're watching me.

I know the motto of the site is "Saving the world, one room at a time", but I don't think that it means that all the world has to be in one room.
This room is insanely funny, but it's not a design.

I'm imagining all the dust on those things...not for me.
view LaurieLu's profile
wow! yes on everything but the globes - I would freak out waking up to that.
view lovelyrita's profile
Sorry, nothing I like about this one! There's no way I could sleep in a room like that...
view boldcitygirl's profile
Baaaaad Feng Shui to have all that hanging above your bed. And I'm with 'lightspeed' on the serene bedroom thing. I once tried a golden yellow on my walls and it only lasted two days, because I could FEEL the noise it created - even with my eyes closed!
view lrhg's profile
i can feel with the weight of the world(s)....no...wait i mean huge googly eyes all staring down when you are either attempting sleep or sex....
hehehhe
not too sexy or relaxing
there's so much happening on the walls, ceiling and floor....i can't imagine much sleep or anything else going on in the bed. :-/

For those interseted, the rug and the mushroom lamp are by the Bouroullec brothers, and are for the Kreo Gallery in Paris.
The chair is by Hella Jongerius for Jongeriuslab (made of wool felt and carbon fibre, retailing in the $6000 range).
The side lamps are Joe Colombo for Oluce.
view d3's profile
6Kfor that chair---really makes me sick to know that!
view poptart's profile
This looks like a dorm room or a teenager's room --- definitely not for an adult. The globes are somewhat creepy.

The "painted frames" are an artwork by Allan McCollum. He's a renowned artist. More info here:

Considering that the furniture and artwork are museum quality, I wouldn't be surprised if the globes are an artwork as well. I think that, while not for everyone, it is an extremely well thought out room with with cool interplay between color and geometry. It definitely belongs to someone who's not afraid to have a strong point of view.
