Who knew how versatile chartreuse is? Not me! Who knew that chartreuse had such a complex history? Not me! For color purists, we're referring to the "traditional chartreuse"--it's halfway between yellow and green, and somehow manages to play nice with grey blue, light pink, salmon pink, olive green, and pretty much every shade of yellow imaginable. Check out more chartreuse options and examples after the jump...

After canvassing the trusty internet to find other examples of how to incorporate

Aha! So my foyer walls and hall closet interior come into "trend" finally. (incidentally, my hall closet exterior is the blue above also!) I guess I was a few years ahead (or a few behind the last time)

UM, why does the fridge say smeg? Is that a brand? If so, it's an unfortunate name choice.

Finally! I painted a tiny bathroom in the last place I lived chartreuse. It was so overwhelming in a good way. I just redid my bedroom and the bed skirt and standard shams are chartreuse. I paired it with a navy duvet and euro shams and with orange and white sheets!!! Can't wait for spring. Just hope it doens't become too much of a trend that feels outdated next year.

Okay, THIS chartreuse looks like fun! Last time it was popular I remember it having much more of an olive cast. That was fugly. This I think I like.

Funny, I just bought 4 new coffee mugs and a beautiful large vase in chartruese. I love how fresh that color feels right now. Plus, with 4 ft of snow on the ground it makes it feel like spring (in my head)

I think people have been into it for a while. One of my coworkers and I were just complaining a few days ago that the only color of bathtowels that are ALWAYS picked over and/or sold-out at Target are chartreuse or lime.

I got six chartreuse colored Supernatural chairs last year. I found them overwhelming, with very strong color (the manufacturer calls it yellow...)
I'm used to it, it goes well with chome and glass, the beech floor. But the kitchen cabinets tone rather brown against them :(

angelabaca: yes, Smeg is an appliance brand that's very popular in the UK (though it is something of a vulgar slang term in England). its an Italian company. AND I WANT ONE!
