We were pleased to see Jeannie and Edwin's bedroom in the Domino Reader's Bedroom contest. Their loft in Downtown LA is so chic, and we loved how they used dark peacock blue/teal in their bedroom--something that we don't see too often. But after seeing their spot and Ronke from NYC's blue bedroom, we're thinking there must be something to this color...
And even though these rooms are using different shades, they still evoke a similar glamorous feel to the bedroom. We love the gold and black paired with the more muted blue in Jeannie and Edwin's space; and the red and white bring a bright pop to the brighter blue that Ronke used.
But maybe the real secret to using dark blues in the bedroom is making sure you have a mirrored table by the bed and a strong black-and-white graphic rug...

i totally painted my last room this color; i like that it felt like i was underwater. and while i love the color and really enjoyed it at first, after a while it began to be too dark for me, so i don't think i would do it again. but truly a lovely color.

I really like how that color fits in a bedroom, think it makes the room look quite cozy, modern and comfortable, and it also makes the lights look softer. However, I remember I read once that blue in a bedroom walls could even cause a depression :S.

I love the chandelier print on the right. Does anyone know who makes it? Thanks!

beautiful! I love the dark peacock with the red and mirrored table. stunning! I just painted the back panel of a white alcove that dark blue/teal color and it packs a powerful punch. I don't know if I'd ever be brave enough to go every wall, but it certainly is an easy accent.

tlinell,
The bedspread (duvet set) is from Ikea. It's really orange and white/cream. I know because we have it and I'm really sad to see it everywhere, but I should've known better...
*Sigh*, works for now.
