Look!: Framed Vintage Camera Collection
On The Cheap

121508tim-01.jpgWe were reminded of how much we love the look of a well displayed collection when we stumbled upon Tim Melideo's unique creation of framed vintage cameras. Tim was nice enough to share how he built his collection (on the cheap) after the jump.

121508tim-02.jpgHe explains that the frames were $1 each at a garage sale and the cameras were a mix of eBay, thrift stores and garage sales. He also tells us that no camera was more than $10. He easily affixed the vintage finds to the wall using velcro strips and added extra support (using fishing line and a nail) to the heavier cameras. Tim also mentioned that he has more vintage cameras but not enough frames so if AT readers have other creative ideas on how to display them, he's all ears!

I. Love. This.
Also, VELCRO! Amazing. Not only has this given me wonderful inspiration in regards to what to do with the myriad of old cameras I have sitting around... it has also given me the most amazingly simple solution for hanging my pesky speakers (In a silly moment of purging I threw out their wall mounts as I forgot what purpose they served... le sigh).

I love this! Simple but unique and fun. This is why I love AT. I have been looking for an idea like this and I now have my inspiration!

This is great! I think it could look even better if the wall inside the frames was painted an interesting color.

OK totally stealing this idea. I have so many vintage cameras and have been searching for a good way to display them. Nice job!

V E R Y     C O O L!  I was thinking along the lines of Griffin---why not paint a "mat?"

WOOHOOOOO!!! I am so glad Tim thought of this and AT spotted it! I have been stuck for so long as to what to do with my dad's camera that's now on a console table below his framed photos. The console table's moving, but what to do with the camera? Yes! This is the answer--it becomes a piece of art in itself.
Brilliant!

Just awesome! I just bought a display case for all of mine last week, otherwise I would so do this!

love this idea, i have a small collection, but it's growing.

Would love to put my newer diana and holga up with it, which already use velcro on them to cover the film counter window and just take them off the wall and have an empty frame when i want to use them.

Also, the 3M command strips makes a special type of velcro now with the command release stuff on it for hanging picture frames (what i should have used in my office...) and this way you would do it without damaging your walls as much, just with the added cost.

Aw, I hate to be a downer, but the effect is really blah to me. Cool cameras, though!
