Look! Kitchen and Bath at Old Dover Road

031309_doverkitchen0.jpgKitchens with weird layouts are always challenging, so we're always excited to see odd spaces that work thanks to some ingenuity (and probably some heavy editing of...stuff). Take, for example, this kitchen in the UK featured on Beach Studio, site for film scouts to find real homes to use for television shows, movies, and photo shoots. Despite the wide-angle lens, this kitchen looks a bit narrow with the island being close to both the oven and the fireplace...

...however, these owners (or stylists...?) takes full advantage of the galley-like layout and creates separate nooks:

031309_doverkitchen3.jpgA reading area for cookbooks...

031309_doverkitchen2.jpg...with a rustic farmhouse-style dining area with benches for casual family-style meals just beyond it.

031309_doverkitchen1.jpgLike any small kitchen area, storage is limited; so each pot and pan has its own hook on the rail.

Bathroom

031309_doverbath1.jpgLove the simple decoration used in the bathroom, like using a pair of lanterns to hide small toiletries or candles and a wood mat instead of a typical fuzzy mat.

031309_doverbath2.jpgWhy tile the whole bathroom? Check out this backsplash of small tiles in a tonal range of white and beige blends perfectly with the wall, but it also creates a pearly sheen that adds a touch of glamour to the sink area. We love how it goes with the lacy privacy film adhered to the window.

031309_doverbath3.jpgIf you've always wanted a towel warmer and you've got a radiator in your bathroom, attach a towel rack in front of it. Not only does it hide the radiator, but it'll keep your towels nice and toasty.

Bedroom

031309_doverbdrm.jpgA photo of the bedroom...just because. Love the peaceful vibe of this bedroom with all the white, and the combination of Ikea nightstands and lamps with a Shaker-style iron bed and a kitschy rug....not to mention, a bench that looks like it has a history.

See all the rooms at the Old Dover House over at Beach Studio.

I love the sconces over the range in the kitchen! Who makes them?

Does anyone have experience with that kind of pot rack set-up? I'm wondering about continually reaching over and across the counter/stove. The way the ceilings in my (attic) kitchen slope, a standard ceiling hanging pot rack won't work and I am considering this type of set-up. Thanks!

I'd think the pots and utensils would get greasy.

Those are Kartell Componibli tables, no? Or did Ikea 'take inspiration from' those too?
