Look! Laurie Rubin's Photographs

It's fall. We have a little contest going on. Maybe you're in a rut. A sad, colorless rut. We know. We've been there. So here's a little inspiration for you that we are over the friggin moon about: Chicago-based photographer Laurie Rubin is showing us how to flaunt color in the most righteous way.

100407_laurierubin2.jpgNo, she's not an interior decorator. And yes, she does photograph food (that artichoke photograph is making us drool. And we usually hate artichokes!).

But even better than that are her photographs of home interiors. We are so in love with this dining (look at those orange chairs! So great paired with those red and orange vases on the cabinets. If the person who owns this room is reading this, we strongly urge you to enter our contest). Browsing through her body of work, we're loving how Laurie turns up the volume on color and contrast, but still manages to capture the subtlety of muted hues and earth tones.

Another thing we love? Her colors go hand in hand. Check out her still life photo of a Cartier and Herms box pictured here, and compare it to the above photo of the dining room.

For more drool-worthy photos, check out her site here at www.laurierubin.com

Okay, so I guess sometimes it's okay to paint wood. This is amazingly wonderful.

Unrelated: On the contest page, can someone please close those a tags in the list where everyone's entries are listed? The contest rules take you to Kokoro's studio, and the headings take you to the previous entry. Thanks!

this...is...beautiful.

it's the only image i've seen so far in relation to this contest where using color enhances and plays off of every element. it's stellar and a conscious use of color, not just bold color everywhere simply for the sake of color. (my opinion).

i like the colors, but the furniture and accesory combinations are not very imaginative...it's stuck in a time warp.
