Look! Lisa Congdon and an Orange Wall

110707_lisa.jpg

We made a point of stopping in at Firefly on Friday to meet the lovely Lisa Congdon (jane of many trades). Her show is wonderful and up for another couple of weeks, check it out!

We were also floored by the awesome shade of orange the wall behind her work was. A mix between pure pumpkin and crayola orange, it was comforting, warm and somehow went perfectly with her work. Since it's still Fall Colors time we wanted to know more.

She tipped us off that she actually coordinated her work with the orange wall since she knew ahead of time that she'd be hanging on it. The white frames and turquoise accents were all part of the master plan.

We love the idea of artwork being shown in galleries against non-white surfaces and might even be convinced that orange can be the way to go in our own apartment. Especially with the grayer days, a litter warmth makes such a difference.

Currently Kinkead gallery on Washington Blvd in Culver City has an amazing show. The artist installed graphic wallpaper before hanging their show.. worth checking out.
