Here's an idea that gives your guests a hint of what's inside: paint your front door the same color as your hallway. If you go with a bold color (like this bright blue here), it creates enough drama to spotlight a showcase console table and mirror. Go with a neutral tone, it will give the illusion of an airy entry way.

(Which isn't to say I haven't thought about painting my front door)

We can paint the inside of the front door, but not the outside. Anyone have any suggestions for the inside? After all, the front door rarely stays open long enough to make a visual impact as noted in the picture. Also, I must admit, I like the surprise visitors get after traveling down a bland hallway, then opening the door into my apartment.
