Basically, it's has a bookshelf, double bed, sofa, dinner table, four stools, working space, wardrobe, and small storage, all able to be compacted down to around 4 square meters. However, it has the ability to expand and be arranged into many different possible configurations to suit different needs. Created by a group of Swedish students initially as a university project, it is now making the international Design Exposition rounds. We're loving the thinking behind it and there's a lot of interesting ideas to inspire if you're living in a small space. Check out more details and see more pics about it here (including how all the pieces fit together and their different combinations) at their website. (via NotCot, via Below the clouds)
I love this! This is just what I need for my 316 square foot - ONE ROOM apartment in Tokyo. I have been mulling over giving away furniture or even moving outside the city for the luxury of switching to a double bed.

The big problem with all these subcompact ideas is that you need to be totally anal about cleaning/putting things back together. There is (literally) no room for messiness!

Ummm,
Where does the dining table go when not in use?

I really like this idea. My only question is: where does the mattress come from? I think I've worked out how the rest of it fits together, but not where they store the mattress!

Looks like it collapses and stores beneath the bench seat. You can see it's wooden outline surrounding the little white seats, which obviously tuck beneath the bench as well.

Is this actually available for purchase?

Very nice idea! But I would be too lazy putting all that things together!
