This mud room is so organized that it looks like a retail shop: every pair of sunglasses has its own specific ledge, motorcycle helmets are tucked neatly on the top ledge, a handy wall mirror for a last look before heading out. And before we forget: the sweet window corner seat with black and white striped cushions would be an ideal spot to throw shoes on or to climb up to grab a helmet. (Are shoes stored in the window seats? Looks like they might be!) Sigh...we'd be lucky if our entry was 1/10th as efficient or as nice looking!

this is so awesome

Don't even think about putting something down in there. This room is way too clean to be considered a "mud room." And god forbid you buy a new pair of sunglasses.

...or take a pair with you out the door, for heaven's sake.

I want that window seat. Anyone know where I can get something like that, or should I just have one made?

I so wish I had a mudroom, especially one that looked like that!

I'll echo the comment that questioned WHITE in a "mud room." Assuming the function of the room is to serve as an (extremely organized) "in-between room," in this example, how can the white NOT get dirtied? Looks great in a magazine, though, doesn't it??

No kids in that house!

The sunglass shelves make me feel a little ill.

Individual shelves laid out for a collection of sunglasses? Interesting, I'll admit. =) The idea certainly could be implemented into the average family's mudroom by providing one ledge for each member of the family. I know our sunglasses end up getting tossed all willy-nilly (did I just say that?) on the top shelf, and over time, end up getting scratched or smooshed or broken. I could definitely use an idea like this, to a lesser extreme. I love the upper shelf! Good way to make use of space for items that can be hard to store.
I subscribe to the idea of "a place for everything, and everything in its place." I just don't see how a person could have a need for 8 pairs of sunglasses. =P

I think that mudroom is bigger than my kitchen. Dang.
Obviously those little shelves could be used for other stuff (phone, mp3 player, keys, wev), but it looks cool to have all those sunglasses for the photo op.

LOVE this - it has many real-world possibilities. The shelves could be re-arranged and used as a landing strip and I adore the shelf around the top of the room.
beautiful!

I LOVE the shelves for the sunglasses. I have tons of sunglasses and they get thrown in a bowl and look ugly and get scratched.
Also sunglasses as art is always cool. I have a couple pairs i never wear but display them in my bedroom because they are so cool!

While I love the corner bench, I'm not a fan of that fabric. It looks really dated to me. And wouldn't those sunglasses shelves get incredibly dusty? That just looks weird to me.

That is aaawwweesssommmeee.
I love the crisp fabric (could it be sunbrella-type outdoor fabric) and the white looks fabulously clean and is probably easy to touch up when it gets too boot-scuffed.
Like the helmet/hat storage overhead. Looks like there is a family living there (hello mini-shoes) and a sports enthusiast (thus the need for much eyewear).
Really looks to be an optimized space for the needs of the homeowner. (Sports gear and shoe storage, easy to find sunglasses) and in the end, probably not terrible expensive or difficult to do.
