If you're space is neutral or you just don't want too much color around and you're lucky enough to have a pocket door, try containing an accent color by painting the door. When it's open no one would ever suspect, and when it's closed, pow! A bright swath of color.
SarahC pointed out how great pocket doors can be for small spaces since they take up very little room and literally tuck away. Painting one is a great way to get your feet wet with accent colors since, if you don't like it, it's not a hug space to repaint. We even wonder if you wouldn't want to try covering it in a great fabric or wallpaper for an unexpected detail. This bright pink door is from the Ikea catalog from earlier in the year!
Hmm... I have one in our small bedroom, it's our closet door. Would (rather, should) be closed most of the time so will show alot, and I am trying to do a very calming, monochromatic blue color scheme. Maybe a closely related shade of blue (walls will be BM's Soft Sky, most likely)? Maybe a blue-grey? I'd be afraid that wallpaper would get too beaten up. This has real possibilities, and I have been laying in bed, staring at that pocket door and wondering what to do with it. Thanks, AT!

I painted the pocket doors in my otherwise all-white house a deep, inky black (BM Toucan Black). It looks fantastic! I don't close my pocket doors often, but it's such a nice surprise whenever I do.
