One of our friends has a similar alcove for her bed in her loft, and we're thinking this would be a pretty neat idea to give her bedroom area some distinction.

We spied this idea in the Swedish version of Elle Interiör from stylist Sofie Andersson. The dark charcoal grey seems like it would be soothing and versatile enough to coordinate with a number of bedding options.
And for renters of open lofts with restrictions on modifications to the rental unit.. Ikea modifications can create the nook with storage on the otherside of the wall!

I'm doing the cure and thinking of something like this in my bedroom. What do you think?

You could also mirror the alcove in any number of ways, from a full seamless sheet to individual squares. Or silver-leaf the alcove. Or panel it with vertical planks lightly whitewashedâor not. Or wallpaper it. Or whatever.

this is EXACTLY what i'm planning on doing in my new space down to the hanging bulb, the charcoal gray, & the white. my mom thinks i'm nuts. so, thanks for the validation.
in my case, it's going to be in a studio. so, the alcove created by a walled off heater gave me an opportunity to create a separate space.
i'm not moving till summer. so, see you in the fall cure!!!

Bravo for picking a dark color. So much of the time people tell me they are scared of picking dark colors because they think it will make a space smaller....but I always tell them that it is light that makes a space feel big or small...
This looks great!
