Look! Pop of Pink in Warm Brown Tones

081908_pinkframe.jpgToo many brown tones can teeter dangerously close to drab, so we really like this solution to break up all the earth tones: a pop of bright, saturated color, even in something as simple as a mirror frame. Side note: Both the mirror and the sideboard were street finds!

Color is not my strong suit, but this makes it look easy somehow, almost formulaic (in a good way). There are a number of colors that would look good with a strong chocolate. I think part of my problem is going for safer mid-tone neutrals (taupe-grays, etc.), which makes it even more difficult to pop with color. Next time, I'll just paint the wall a very dark shade, and I think that choosing accent colors will be much easier.

Great post.

I like this idea. My bedroom is teetering dangerously close to browns, but I think my personal preference is a blue or green for pop, to mix up the warm earth tone monotony of the space.

i just found that light fixture on ebay and was convincing myself that I didn't need it; although seeing it in this room is probably going to change my mind.

lovely. I think it works because the pop of color is on a piece so dominant yet singular. If it were a pink vase in the collection, for example, I think it'd lose its impact.

He's kind of blurry and I really can't make out his face but I like the guy in the orange t-shirt.

This is well timed. I've just been lamenting my too-brown living room.

Reminds me of my office. Reddish chocolatey walls and fuschia chair.

Mine was getting a bit brown so I added more cinnabar / Asian reds plus pillows that are really antique mirrored Indian embroideries.
