We're experiencing our version of winter in LA and our apartment, which is located on the first floor and which doesn't get a lot of sun, can get decidely chilly. It's not unusual to come home after a long day to find it colder in our home than it is outside and we snuggle up against the heating vents in the wall while waiting for the heat to take the edge off. How much better if we had this?...
Leaps and bounds ahead of any space heater we've seen, according to the website "Adax Syklus is a panel heater consisting of a base and three detachable heating cassettes. It heats through convection and radation, with and without the cassettes mounted. In addition, the heat is experienced through conduction when interacting directly with the heating cassettes." Designed by Øyvind Østmo (RR) and Andreas Sørensen (Hareide Designmill), we love the fact that it can be broken down to warm individual body parts as well as to keep your food warm. Clever idea - I've been looking for heaters and have pretty much settled on electric area rug warmers - such as these from Speedheat:

Does anyone have experience pro/con with these?

great post--can't wait to look into this. [please forgive this aside: spellcheck "radation"--spelling comes up so often.]

Electric oil filled radiators give a nice heat that will take the chill off.

Love it, love it, love it! Heaters are such an important and vital thing in some parts of the world, I'm surprised no one has thought to make them "designer" before!
