Mix and Match is a snap! Angela Schwab of INV/ALT design has created this set of "snap cups". The cups have metal snaps that are imbedded into them, and have different handles and stems that can be attatched. They can also be attatched to each other.
INV/ALT's work focuses on new forms and altering existing objects. The SnapCups were recently part of the "Ceramics for Breakfast" competition sponsored by designboom. Design*Sponge did a little post this weekend about her cupcake plate where she combined a vintage saucer with a severed wine glass stem. Her pieces can be purchased at her etsy store, and she also has a blog.
