Look! So Bad, It's GREAT Bathroom Décor

It really does tell a funny story, despite our crap camera phone pic.
We've been spending this past weekend up in the Bay Area, and have had the pleasure of visiting the homes of some good friends who happen to have a love for the Alameda swap meet and a great sense of humor. For example: check out this hilarious vignette of their bathroom vanity: a huge (and we mean HUGE--it's about 1' tall!) vintage display bottle of Drakkar Noir (a flea market find) sits solidly between two sinks, surrounded by votive candles in dainty, feminine holders. The crowning glory: another great vintage find of a gold-plated Anthrax necklace draped on top of the cologne bottle. We couldn't stop laughing even when we left the loo.

I know Drakkar was very popular but, I always hated the smell. The display is funny though. All it need is a giant bottle of "Brut" next to it.

There will come a point in time when our yummy decor ideas are going to induce 'what-was-I-thinking?' forehead-smacking. (I'm looking at you, 'keep calm' posters). I say fight back, kooky interiors! More please! I think this is a hoot.

Made me stop, gawp, grin, suppress a chuckle (as I'm at work) and post a comment.

Ah, takes me back - Many of the fun tragic interiors I have witnessed have been created by young, poor Goths, armed with too much black paint and alot of crucifixes, but fueled with passion as they tested out 'looks'. These sweeties are all grown up now and live in very cool spaces. They must be looking at this and, a. shuddering at the memory or, b. thinking - D**m, wish that was mine! The pendant on the giant bottle - ooo, I've got chills!
Can't wait to send this link on!

An homage to the 80's. Makes me want to break out my leg warmers and hugely oversized sweatshirt.
