It seems to be harvest time for some of us in LA. These tomatoes from my mom's (in Glendale) were ripe for the picking this weekend (even the heirloom zebra tomatoes!) but mine on the Westside are lagging. Of all the regions covered by AT, we like to think that LA has the best climate for growing fruits and vegetables and we want to know: What do you grow at home? Do you have a garden, window boxes, herbs in the kitchen? And what's ripe now? Leave your answers after the jump!

My cherry tomatoes are ripening and ready to pick as we speak. They look like the ones in the pic. My heirlooms - Tomato Tomandes - are still very green. But I'm way on the east side -- Brooklyn!

I just picked 8-9 of my heirlooms...three which I have here at my desk for lunch!

gregory, i admire your restraint. if i had a tomato vine, the tomatoes would be in my mouth before i even stepped two feet from the vine. they'd never make it to my desk. i seriously do not think there is anything better than biting into a warm tomato, slightly dusty.

I was telling my better half last night while eating some of those red hued vine grown gems how I never really liked raw tomatoes as a child. But after first trying organic and locally grown tomatoes, and especially now since growing my own crop, I've earned an understanding of how utterly delicious and flavourful room temp tomatoes are. I try to pick one off the vine every morning as I am walking down the stairs. It's like a V8, but with natural packaging!

FYI, I totally ate at least 3 times the amount of tomatoes in the picture just as I was walking around the garden, so I'm totally with you Abby!

Currently harvesting: Tomatoes. My herbs are growing rapidly as well...Lavender, Mint, Rosemary. I just planted cucumber from about 3 weeks ago and the plants are a foot tall already and starting to branch out...can't wait to have tomatoes and cucumbers at the same time.
I brought bunches of mint in for my co workers who made mojitos, yum!

My tomatoes are ripening one at a time, but my basil plants are very leafy. I planted them in one big pot with chives, thyme and parsley.

laure, your photo is making me insanely jealous! my tomatoes are not doing so hot, and i dunno, after I replanted my basil plant, it started looking reeeeal shabby. Eeeeek! You'll have to give me some pointers next time I attempt veggies.

Growing tomatoes, eggplant, squash, jalapenos, lots of basil, mint, epazote, lettuce and a bunch of other stuff in my tiny garden. Fighting off tomato hornworms and pooping cats!

Ooooh! You guys are making me hungry.
Steenks--I understand abobut the basil, I have not had any luck at all this year either.
And Perejil--I think I read on AT that cats hate cinnamon, so if you sprinkle that around the tomato plants it should deter them!

i'm growing lots of tomatoes. never having tried gardening before, i just stuck them in the ground a few months ago, without preparing any sort of real caging. now they're 4 feet tall at least, and are taking over my little raised bed. lots of green fruit are awaiting ripening, some cherry and heirloom varieties. i also planted carrot and radish seeds last week. the radishes germinated in a matter of days, while the carrots are showing no sign of life. it's all exciting though, and i'll continue experimenting and learning, despite the "why not just buy it from the farmers market?" question i get asked daily from family/friends.
