Look! The Interior Decor of the Million Dollar Theater

060508millondollar01.jpgWe got to escape for a short while last night to attend Last Remaining Seats, an annual event organized by the Los Angeles Conservancy, which opens the doors to several of LA's grandest theaters on Broadway. Last night we were treated to a screening of the Crawford classic Mildred Pierce (wow, was that one fantastic noir gem) while being equally bowled over by the architecture within the 1918-built film palace. There were plenty of architectural details inside and out to admire...

This theater is absolutely beautiful. In Philadelphia, there is a battle to save the last remaining movie theater palace called the Boyd, which is filled with incredible art deco details. It was built in 1928 and is in danger of being torn down. It would be fantastic if this building could be saved from demolition and restored to its former beauty. If you are interested you can read about it here http://friendsoftheboyd.org/

Hopefully one day the Boyd Theater can look as beautiful as this one.

Good post Gregory. Post some exterior photos of the building next time. Grauman's MILLION DOLLAR THEATER is amazing on the outside too! Sid Grauman built this theater before the CHINESE in Hollywood.
