Look!: Toilet Paper In a Tall Vase

100208toilet-01.jpgWe are loving all the cool storage as display ideas we're spotting this week. First it was guitars and now toilet paper--what's next?! Find out why we love this storage as display option after the jump.

100208toilet-02.jpgRunning out of toilet paper when you need it the most is on our "top five" list of most frustrating events. With a clear vase, you always know when you're about to run out. We found this tall clear glass vase for $31.99. A toilet paper roll hovers right under five inches and the width of this vase is almost 6 1/2 inches--perfect size. We decided you could also try a colored vase if you really didn't want to show that you're storing toilet paper rolls (although we think storing toilet paper in a clear vase is pretty clever).

Where do you store your toilet paper?

I have a very small bathroom and I decided to do this about 4 years ago. I highly recommend it for small space living. Its also a nifty conversation starter for visitors. It might be just interesting enough to keep people out of your medicine cabinet.

Love it! Gonna snatch a round tall vase as soon as I see one and put it to use.

Hmmm... looks like toilet paper in a vase, to me.

I keep my TP in the bottom drawer next to the toilet. It's within reach, but out of sight - and my cat can't open the drawer and play with it. He'd knock over that big vase in a flash.

you can find a much cheaper vase at a crafts store.

Domino suggested this idea a few years ago, it's great if you only buy 4 rolls at a time.

Thank you, Ana. I knew I saw this idea before! I thought it was kind of cool in a stylized photo but in reality its a dusty vase of tp.

I just watch the roll and replace it if it's low and people are coming over.

While this is attractive in the picture, I can see this getting dirty fast inside with hairspray, dust, etc. in the air. Just what I need - one more thing to have to clean...

What happens when the vase slips out of your hand and shatters? Will you think it s a good storage solution for toilet paper?

Try lucite.

I'm with lilyc-dusty and, worse, hairy (EW!); something else to clean-just more clutter on the floor.

i've been doing this for years. i think i saw it in real simple. btw, i got my vase in walmart for like $6. look for the hurricane glasses that hold pillar candles. it's easier to find than a vase of that shape.

What a great idea! Storing TP in a bathroom is usually challenging especially in a small space. I like this!! COOL

i had no idea people needed a way to store extra TP...so much so that they'd want to display it and have it open to dust, hair, moisture etc. And how exactly do you get the bottom one out? and I bet it would look silly with just one roll in it...so you'd have to keep refreshers on hand anyways...

Errrr, I keep extra toilet paper on a shelf in my bathroom. It doesn't sit there long enough to get dusty. If that's a problem maybe you aren't going to the bathroom often enough ;) Might wanna check that out.

LOL Melissa

I also saw it in Real Simple years ago. Never tried it, but there's not really room by my toilet for that.

Anyway in the book Organized Living, by Dawna Walters, they feature this industrial compartmentalized basket over the toilet with about a dozen rolls of paper, each in its own compartment. It was sort of a cooler version of the toilet paper wall linked to above, although, obviously, you would have the same dust/moisture concerns for those who are freaked out about that.

mariegael, isn't it hard to get out of the vase during an awkward moment where you just emptied a roll and need a new one right away?

I thought of this on my own and then wanted to see if anyone else had thought of it. Go figure! Well, here is my version. I went to Marshall's and bought a vase for $10. The TP looked lonely so I bought a fake pomogranate branch and put down the center. I'm not too worried about dust, hair, water etc. Here's the link to a picture I put on Facebook.
