For a bite-sized bathroom, shelving can be tricky. You don't want to overpower the room with bulky, unattractive shelving but your items still need a place to call home (preferably a spot that's out in the open for quick getting ready in the morning). We love Lizzy's version of shelving for the bathroom and had to share the great idea...
Look!: Vintage Iron Steps as Bathroom Shelving
Lizzy spotted these simple iron steps at an antique store one weekend--$6 for the pair (steal). She treated them with a coat of off-white paint and re-purposed them as shelving for her bathroom. We love the open-pattern design of the shelving which lets light through and keeps the look graceful. Another option for a teeny bathroom is corner shelving which will save much needed space.
AT readers, what sort of shelving do you have in your bathroom, is it DIY'd like Lizzy's iron steps? Or do you prefer to have things hidden under the sink, behind closed doors?

Love this! I bought vintage iron brackets to put up some bathroom shelves, but have stalled because they look too clunky with a piece of wood over them... this is much better!

Those are great as shelves. I don't think I have ever seen any at the flea markets I visit, so they might be a once-in-a-lifetime kind of find -- making them even better as a score!
I have a floor standing tower (1 foot square footprint) that I got at Home Goods. It has shelves for towels, a glass door on the bottom for other storage, and a full-length mirror on the back -- and it swivels! It fits handily in a corner by the door that otherwise is probably where I would have had wall shelves. This way I can fit art on the wall behind, as well.

I have a chrome train rack (for lack of a better term) from Bed Bath & Beyond above the toilet -- it was a cheap way to add towel storage and it looks like it cost more than $20.

fantastic use! i think they would also be great as miniature pot racks/spice shelves in a small kitchen by hanging S-hooks on the front edge and using the top part for small jars/bottles.
you'd just have to be sure to mount into a stud or use anchors.
