Look! White Room, Black Alcove

091108_blackalcove.jpgIf yesterday's big black bedroom was too much for you, check out this lovely living room. While the majority of the space is done up in blinding white, the window seat alcove lures us in thanks to the flat black trim and cushions. Love the overall effect of concentrating most of the black in one area!

Anyone know who makes the floating media unit? Is it custom? I'm working on something very similar to this now, and would love to know who's producing this.

Whoa! That's not how I'd furnish that room, but what a knock-out paint combo! Love it!

Once again, using dark colors to make a wall recede... With the white walls advancing, the contrast makes that window seat look miles deep. Good job!

Garrett, i have been looking for similar media unit as well. let me know how yours turn out. one similar one i have seen is the Calligaris Seattle (http://www.calligarisshopmanhattan.com/pid/00000751/Calligaris-Seattle-Low-Storage-Unit). but it doesn't "float" like this one.

I think it works well because of the very high ceilings, the molding up top, the crystal chandelier, and the dark shiny floors. I don't like the tv/media unit (too modern for me). I'm curious about the couch though.
