When we first spotted this photo of this Pasadena 1910 Craftsman bungalow in Architectural Digest, we thought it looked a wee bit old fashioned. But after taking a closer look, we're starting to like the yellow-tinted green trim paired with crisp white walls. Furnishings aside, this color combo seems to fit the vibe of this vintage home. Side note: we covet that stained glass in the windows.

There is nothing wrong with old fashioned, especially if it is in line with the architecture and era inwhichthe home was built.

It's not stained glass...
It's Artscape window film!

I have that same pattern, that I used in an old poster frame, applying it to the acrylic, and leaving off the backing... to hang on the wall. Or prop in the window. Or lean on another wall.
Just click on Styles at the above link, and start choosing which ones you like.
You can pick them up at Home Depot (that's where mine came from), for about $20.00 each.
I've only told this story a gazillion times, but there was a couple who had a home that was VERY close to a busy street. They needed some kind of window treatment. For privacy, they had to draw their drapes all the time. And the view wasn't all that great (it was of a busy street). But there was no LIGHT coming in with the drapes drawn.
I recommended the Artscape. The couple did the WHOLE front of their living room with the Magnolia. Now they have privacy, and get beautiful light coming in all the time. During the night, if the living room is lit, everyone outside gets the beautiful images to look at.
And it was so funny, because the couple DID go outside the night they installed the Artscape. And stood around in their small front yard, ooohing and ahhhing over their own windows. After turning on EVERY single light in the living room.
