I've been spending the last few hours on the phone with my mom and friends who all live in my childhood neighborhood of Northridge and Porter Ranch. Homes are being directly threatened by fire and embers due to hurricane-like Santa Ana winds. If you have friends or family who live in the direct line of the fires (map here), please contact them to ready themselves for evacuation. Experts are not sure which way the winds may blow as conditions change. I'll have to ask for your understanding as I leave AT duty today to be ready and on call to aid my family's evacuation (Chatsworth High School has been setup as an evacuee station). I hope everyone out there in LA is safe and in contact with those in endangered areas.

Our thoughts are with those in danger.

My thoughts go out to those who have lost their homes and danger and to the poor animals.

As a fellow Northridgeian/Porter Ranch kid, I've been on edge today too. I recommend the blog at calfires.blogspot.com and going to the #lafires tag on twitter search -- http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23lafires
That being said, by now, things seem to have calmed down on the blogosphere, but it's hard to get concrete news from LA. :-/
