Name that Paint: The PAINT Game

100809paintgame01.jpgHalf the fun (if you find these sort of things recreational) when repainting is noting the names of interior and exterior paints given by manufacturers. Shangrila Silk, Redwood Sunset, Blue Lagoon, Indecent Proposal...ok, that last one I made up...they all evoke imagery of what the paint will do to and for your room...

If put to the test, could you match a paint name with its colour? Cal Henderson created The PAINT Game using actual paint names from the Dulux range (note: this is not an officially endorsed Dulux game), making for a fun lunch time diversion and a perfect complement to this month's Room for Color contest.

The PAINT Game offers a list of paint color names, and you try to guess what the color actually is. Ten colors are picked from our database, so every game is different. We scored 6/10 trying to pick the first choice that popped in our heads immediately. Can you beat it? Try The PAINT Game here.

My favorite paint color was called "Absinthe Mist." I'm pretty sure I picked it based on the name alone.

6 out of 10. Some were obvious. I missed the esoteric names that didn't seem to have a relationship to the actual color.

I love to peruse paint samples at the hardware store just to look at the names. It would be fun to read about the people whose job it is to make up the names. Why doesn't someone from AT take that on?

rexrayfan, that's a grand idea...perhaps we'll contact a few paint manufacturers about that subject for a future post.
