apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

One Room Living by L&Z Interiors

101508_zachsosne.jpgWe first spotted Zachary Sosne's studio on HGTV's site as inspiration for living small. Really small. He and his fiancee (plus two pugs) live in a 16x18 ft space that includes an eating area, a queen sized bed, two home offices, and a couch. And if their space-saving solutions aren't inspiring enough, check out their bold color combo of grey, aqua and red. More photos after the jump...

One thing we're particularly enamored with is the subtle use of high shelves. There's a little corner shelf in the bed area, and the same wood is used for a high shelf over the work space / TV unit. Also noteworthy: the moulding on the walls are painted white and aqua.

The wall shelf with coat hooks is installed in the kitchen as an organizer for their pots and pans.

The TV is mounted to the wall and offers some space / privacy between the workspaces. Since their business operates from their home, all the files and paperwork are filed and stored underneath their bed.

Based on what we've read about this couple and their home, it seems like living in a 288 sq ft home requires not just ingenuity with the physical space, but organization systems that really make this place work as both home and office.

yes, please, more posts on one-room living! or at least one huge post devoted to different studio apartments. and not the ones with the bed in a walk-in closet. i'm talking about the apartments which must deal with the bed in the living/dining/bedroom space. so many of us around the country (world) live in these kinds of rooms. thank you!

Definitely. More one room on a budget posts- not all of us can realistically afford what we see in the palatial, 3,000 sq ft NYC lofts.
