Our Favourite Five from Overstock

120308atla5overstock01.jpgEvery once a month we like to give the selection at Overstock.com a look over for deals. Occasionally we'll see something we like or can recommend to others (we've mostly purchased bedding items from them in the past). Here's five of our favourite furniture picks from the discount online retailer...

120308atla5overstock02.jpgLanda Frost White Gossip Bench: Add a bright modern patterned cushion to the seat and you've got a great little corner seating area to sit and chat away about the new episode of Gossip Girl from.

120308atla5overstock03.jpgArmstrong White Corner Computer Desk: Corners are often under utilized areas of the home. Small space dwellers with laptops or mini PCs could do well with a corner desk like this. The pop-out keyboard shelf and decorative spindle legs make this a winner for the surprise home office.

120308atla5overstock04.jpgPrism Red Side Table: Looking for something small and sculptural to add a bold splash of colour in your home? Made of ABS plastic, this accent table can be used inside or out. We wonder if these are strong enough to be used as an occasional stool seat.

120308atla5overstock05.jpgOval Back Settee: we like how this could be left as a handsome traditional piece or dressed up with new upholstery for modern effect. Available in cream, safari and purple.

120308atla5overstock06.jpgPrescott Houndstooth Chair: houndstooth is a personal favourite and we loved the elegant-stately profile of this chair. An actual hardwood frame and reversible cushioning at $185 makes this a reasonable buy.

Read the comments on Overstock from folks who have bought these before you buy: Missing bolts, poorly attached legs, tiny scale, cheap and flimsy materials...

...with this type of quality and the cheap prices, there's only so many places this stuff is from - and it's not anywhere this side of the Pacific Ocean.

For the money, you're still better off getting vintage pieces and painting or reupholstering them yourself.

These are great finds!

i can't say that i've ever dreamt about a gossip bench, much less *more* than a gossip bench, but i thought a gossip bench was shaped like an S, with facing seats?
hmmm, a Google image search would suggest i'm thinking of something else...perhaps a pre-telephone gossip bench?
