Outdoor Home Month: Tori and Austin's Outdoor Refuge

ATLA readers Tori and Austin of San Diego sent us some photos of their outdoor dog-friendly makeover for Outdoor Home Month.

We live in San Diego where the weather is great year round. We tore up the preexisting grass, put down flagstone and pebbles (all from Craigslist for free or uber cheap) and went crazy on the sitting areas and potted plants since we rent. We have a dining area, a reading area on the deck, conversation nooks, an old park bench, and best of all, a firepit to sit around with our friends and relax with some wine.

The yard has to be dog friendly- we have two! Grass wasn't an option- female dog urine kills it. Now we have an outdoor place to hang out and entertain where before it was just unused dying grass. Slowly we are learning about what grows and thrives here, but it's an enjoyable process and we can be found here almost every night.
