As if we didn't already avoid the bathroom scale enough (even more so upon returning from Texas and the plethora of BBQ and TexMex), industrial designer Jim Ruck comes up with a bathroom scale design that might make you hesitate about stepping on to check your weight...
We just wonder if Ruck intended the pins to push downward in the same way those pin art frames at gift shops operate, leaving an imprint of your feet after use. Composed of the thousands of pins evenly laid out to distribute a person's weight, the conceptual design would definitely be a conversation piece, though not as interesting as comparing your weight to an animal or celebrity.

As of now, I'm content to just use my Wii Fit body test on the balance board to find out my weight and BMI. I think it is decently accurate, at least for my needs and wants.

Is this just a design or is there an existing operating model of this concept? Not only do I think the idea is pretty unique and original, but I'm sure that if the scale actually works, it'd be popular. I find it very innovative and hopefully the price isn't going to be out of this world.
