Roundup: Painted Accent Walls
And Why We Love Them

111308pop-01.jpgWe're not commitment shy by any means but we love how you can achieve the same affect by painting just one wall in a room opposed to painting all four walls. We've rounded up a handful of painted accent walls from previous posts that will leave you inspired and hopefully a little less shy when it comes time to pick a paint color for your space.

111308pop-02.jpgWe found this bold green wall on dylanpask's Flickr site yesterday. The jewel toned green makes this apartment anything but boring. Instead of painting one accent wall, he decided to paint two--which we think looks great. It makes the surrounding pieces of furniture pop out from the wall and the cool color is soothing to the eye.

111308accent-05.jpgThis gray accent wall is a fabulous contrasting color for the velvet orange couch. Again, the colorful background makes the furniture stand out, which is definitely a huge improvement from an all white wall.

111308accent-01.jpgThis living room uses a bright orange accent wall to give the room depth. Once again the accent wall makes the black couch stand out as the center of attention as it contrasts nicely against the orange wall.

111308accent-03.jpgWe've been dying to paint a wall in our apartment black and we use this picture as constant inspiration. By painting a small area black (or any color for that matter) you're creating a center or zone for that area. In this instance, the black wall is the entry way zone for coats and shoes. The area is also a connector between rooms and the black moves your focus along as you walk in the front door through to the interior rooms.

111308accent-04.jpgThis orange wall in the kitchen also acts as a connector between two rooms, which helps the space flow effortlessly. We love orange in the kitchen because it's such a warm, fun color.

111308accent-06.jpgThis brown accent wall makes the bed seem to have much more importance and does double duty as a headboard.

111308accent-02.jpgWe love this black accent wall behind a geometric headboard. Not only does the black paint make the headboard pop, it's a great color for the bedroom--sexy and soothing.

This isn't the most impressive round-up I've seen, but I LOVE that aquamarine wall! Beautiful color!

I LOVE a painted accent wall. The bolder the better.

I love accent walls too! I'm a big fan of bold colors, but I can't really go bold all the time. When I move in a few months, I'm going to have to look for a cool land lord who will let me paint and do stuff.

That green wall is fantastic. Lately I've been fixated on shades of emerald green.
