Last night, we caught up on our Project Runway. The challenge we'd missed invited the designers to create a garment from the car parts normally used to craft Saturn automobiles. Like many of the designers, we've always had an affinity for seat belts. Not only do they save lives but we love their shiny, slippery texture. So, we decided to round up furniture that used them...

Danko's Arborline is available in different styles, from simple side chair to a bar stool, without and without a back. We like this tandem bench with its wooden seat and light colored belts.

For this Seatbelt chair designed by Nuttapong Charoenkitivarakorn and manufactured by Boonchucharoenkit, Thai villagers take seat belt scraps and weave them in a criss-cross pattern around the plywood frame. Via Treehugger.

These Seatbelt Cushions by Ting London are not only made of recycled seat belts, but they have no zippers or seams.

Looking to DIY? Purchase seat belt webbing from Rochford Supply; use it to replace hard-to-find webbing on classic aluminum lawn chairs before you put them away for the summer.

I bought some car seat fabric at a discount outo fabric store and covered a head board with it. Looks rich and will hold up very well and easy to dust with a vacuum cleaner.
