The Martin House-To-Go 2008 Fresh Start is a $29,900, 19'7" long cabin home on wheels. Founder Julie Martin decided to start Martin House-To-Go after losing everything in Hurricane Katrina, shifting from restoring historic homes to creating affordable and portable housing for regions like New Orleans and beyond. More photos under the jump...

The Fresh Start miniature homes (with 11' ceilings, which make them seem much more spacious) are built with cedar siding, shingle roofs, and are fully insulated. Interiors include bamboo flooring, pine beaded board panels throughout, and the homes were thoughtfully designed without using VOC emitting materials.
"After Hurricane Katrina swept everything we own out to sea, a funny thing happened on the way to homelessness. We had a vision, a vision of helping thousands of people caught in the ebb and flow of life (and of the sea) who need portable, affordable, well-built, well-designed housing. A vision of things to come – on wheels.
And we liked what we saw. And pronounced it good.
And called it Fresh Start."
Interested in purchasing? Currently there is no financing available, but you can get one started by placing a deposit of ½ of the total prices. The final ½ of the outstanding amount is due upon delivery of your new house-on-wheels, but you're responsible for pickup of your new home (or home for your mother-in-law, like they humorously mention). It's like IKEA, but a whole home (sans assembly).

It is lovely but I hope they give credit to Jay Schaffer of Tumbleweed - it looks like a direct copy.

i'd love to see one. this is pretty much what i'm doing with the shed in my backyard (30x9, which will expand to 30 x 12). mine won't be mobile, but with any luck, it will be liveable.

All that pine would drive me crazy. It's a lovely little concept, but I'd drywall. Fast.

Love it! Necessity is the mother of invention and you know there's a market for this all over! I even like the pine, which with other furnishings, would be broken up and less overwhelming.

The thought of sleeping in that tiny space is nearly giving me a panic attack.
Otherwise, it's nice and cozy.
