Succulent Flower Arrangements

061309_succulent.jpgEven though we have no plans for marriage, we keep finding ourselves on wedding related blogs for the party decor ideas and all the great flower arrangements. This one we especially liked because you can use succulents in an arrangement and plant them afterwards:

We found these arrangements Kelly and Chris's Palm Springs Wedding through 100 Layer Cake and was smitten. Yellow is so happy and fun and mixed with succulents that will last forever this would make a great centerpiece on the dining room table for summertime (not just a wedding). Whenever you're done with the bouquet, you can just plant the succulents in a pot (we do this fancy planting trick: shove the stem into the soil about an inch or two down then water and leave in the sun, it'll normally sprout roots and thrive). It's also a great idea if you've just cut back any succulents and don't need to propagate more, just use them in your bouquet of peonies from TJ's.

I have been trying to find those yellow "flowers" for the better part of 2 years now! I live in NYC and even the flower district seems to have them only several times a year. They look so fun to me...I'd love to just have a nice bunch of those...

I don't remember the name of the yellow things but I remember that they dry very well. They look exactly the same for such a long time after they have dried out. I'm not really a fan of dried things but these are really cute.

Hi!

The yellow balls are "craspedia" or "billy balls." Thanks for featuring my work!

we've had a bunch of the yellow ones in a vase for a few years now, moved across an ocean with us too...
don't know the name either, we call them our 'yellows'.
they are great. simple, colorful, long lasting.

LOL we have the same wedding colors (for next May)... they set a high bar! I'm not sure if I'm motivated or discouraged. =P
