The Textures of ICFF 2009

icff-2009.jpgLike teenagers in the back seat at a drive-in, we had a bad case of the wandering hands syndrome while touring the displays of ICFF this year. We don't know which question we asked more during the show: "Can we take a photo" or "Is it okay to touch the sample?" This year's show had so many items that drew us close by the temptation of textural sensation, whether it was Kohlers' matte finish sink and toilet line, a kimono wrapped chaise, metallic upholstery tufted seating or the ultimately hand-soothing head shaped squeeze toys, we more than once ended up returning to revisit items due to their impact on our sense of touch. Smooth, rough, silky, organic, artificial...our hands found themselves judging as much as our eyes (because all of us what want we bring into the homes to feel as good as they look). Above are several of our favourite hands-on experiences from this year's ICFF show...

I saw those squishy heads @ ICFF on Saturday, too, and literally had to force myself to put them down and walk away.....

Were you allowed to sit on things... that gold chaise would be way to tempting!

Fun post.

What were the puzzle pieces about?

(Also that silver chair is crazy but cool.)

@DC Sarah: I was standing next to a woman who had one in her hand and we spent a good two minutes side by side squishing to our hearts' content...then embarrassedly acknowledged one another.

@sfteri Though I did get to caress is, the chair was on a spinning pedestal and not for sitting upon.

@bromeliad jigsaw puzzle piece wallpaper from, Tracy Kendall wallpaper!
