Using Found Objects in The Garden

Old wine bottles, chipped glass stones, broken windows and torn chinese lanterns often get cast-away with the trash (if not recycled). But we're loving Barbara's lovely sentiment to reuse these items in her large and impressive backyard garden...

We met Barbara a few weeks back when we took photos for her upcoming Apartment Therapy House Tour. We were blown away by Barbara's green thumb and snapped up tons of photos for inspiration. A few pics that didn't make it into the House Tour all had one thing in common--Barbara's use of found objects in the garden. Colorful wine bottles turned upside down add color in an unexpected place. Glass beads and glass lampshades build upon texture and incorporate playfulness to the outdoors. Our favorite spot has to be a particular back wall in the garden. A handful of mirrored windowpanes and paper chinese lanterns feels romantic and cozy. And don't forget to check back on Wednesday for Barbara's full House Tour!

I'm a huge fan of found objects in the garden. And I have a bottle tree, as well as the upside-down bottles -- which also function as 'birdbaths'/drinking pools for butterflies.

Love the mirrors/windows, too. Looking forward to Barbara's house tour!
