Metro Nesting Cubes at Target

atla-040908-metro01.jpgWhile doing some research, we came across these nesting cubes at Target. What seems boring and prosaic becomes, like many things, more interesting on a closer examination...

atla-040908-metro02.jpgThey can line up to become a low dining or coffee table and stack to become a bookshelf. They can also be used as seating. We like their versatility, perfect for a small space, and their price, $69, perfect for a small budget.

Available at Target, through their online store. Looks like they're also offering free shipping.

Stack them, put some FLOR carpet squares (cut to size) on the tops and I see a cool/inexpensive cat-tower...

bepsf, i like your thinking...

aladywhoknows, i was told years ago that target originated in canada, which is why so many people pronounce it 'tarjay'. i guess i was lied to. probably by the same people who pronounce ralph lauren 'lorrain' instead of 'loren'.

lieschenmueller--

Target is based in Minneapolis. The "tarjay" pronunciation is mostly ironic, the whole high design low prices thing. Makes it sound fancy. Who are these jerks that are lying to you about Target?

Sometimes it's even called "Tar-jay Boutique" among the elite shoppers...

lieschenmueller, the ralph law-ren/la-wren thing also gets me. HELLO PEOPLE!!! IT'S spelt lau-ren and pronounced as such, just like the girl's name. it's not pronounced with a french twist! does no one pay attention to his commercials? that would be your first clue people!

can i also beef about valentines/valen-times day???

Great idea... crap product. I guess these days.... you do get what you pay for, lol. Mine just came today and they are so flimsy that if someone sat on any cube individually, it would collapse easily. The legs shake like crazy if any weight is on it (like if you're leaning on it while eating, etc). So if you have any drinks on it, they could easily slide off from the wobbling. I'm going to have to see if a carpenter friend can do something to reinforce the connections to make this a more safer table. So much for the great idea...
