The selections, culled from Moss's vast collection of blue chip contemporary design, mirror the frivolity of award season in Los Angeles. Like those who will receive awards for their exemplary work in entertainment, Moss has lined up a selection of pieces that are regarded by critics as highly original and innovative. Some of the highlights include Gatetano Pesce’s XXXL Vase, Maarten Baas’s Clay Furniture: Clay Coffee Table, and the iconic Roma. Especially if you've never seen some of these pieces in person before, stop by and see them before March 31st.
What is that giant vase made out of?

Can't stop by Moss on Melrose. I thought there would be a link but it linked to after the jump instead.
That thing is just gross. I don't think I'm hurting anyone's bottom line if I think that looks like the egg of some alien dripping in caramel. There's really got to be a more attractive example from this exhibit.

I almost lost my lunch. Agreed - there have to be more appealing representations at Moss.

that looks like the thing on Star Trek that fell off the ceiling and latched onto your back like a leech.

I've blogged about Moss before and the love/hate relationship I have with some of their designs.
That vase is a definite example of the later.

Unless you live at Hollywood and Highland, "Oscar Madness" is pretty easy to avoid. The Academy's not dragging people from their cars and forcing them into the theater.
