apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

My Great Outdoors: An Atmospheric Pool Terrace

2009greatoutdoorsbadge.gifName: Terrence Price (check out his other My Great Outdoors submission here)
Location: Merida, Mexico
Type of space: Pool terrace living room
Tell us about your outdoor project and how you enjoy it: This is a pool terrace that is located near the bedrooms of my house, it is a covered area so I am able to have upholstered furniture in this space. It is great for drinks and casual lounging by the pool. There is a large water feature that creates a wonderful atmosphere.

How did you create it? Working with the architect Henry Ponce we have created a wonderful outdoor space that is cool and shaded on a sunny day, we have 365 of those here in Merida, literally, and also protected for those rainy afternoons of which we do not have many.

Recommended store, site, product or resource? All materials are from local sources.

Looks like a pool that belongs to a boutique hotel! Very jealous!

Because it's a home, plumeria. AT hasn't been about just apartments since... well I don't know if it was ever just about apartments. Small space living is definitely a major theme here, but it's not the rule.

That said, Terrence, I am 26 years old but would you consider a (very late) adoption? I have all my shots and clean up well after myself. Or maybe just turn a blind eye when I have a dip in your (seriously gorgeous) pool? Consider it. :)

Well, even if you had chosen ugly chairs....it would be really impossible to mess up the beauty of that particular space.

This is so beautiful. I'm trying to find words after I've scooped my jaw up. I would love to spend afternoons reading in one of those chairs.

SO unfair! Just gorgeous! I can just see a tipsy Dean Martin making his way around that pool.

Wow This is out of a dream! It must be wonderful to watch the lighting change throughout the day. I love the color choices for the space too. Awesome!
