San Diego-based furniture designer Michael Kreiss has paired up with married couple (and tennis legends) Andre Agassi and Stefanie Graf to come up with the new Agassi Graf furniture line which debuted this month. And unlike some previous celebrity-turned-designers, we actually believe that they DID design this collection...

The story goes something like this: Agassi, fresh off his Wimbledon win in 1992, decided to treat himself by buying a nice, swanky sofa from the Kreiss collection. (Michael Kreiss is a former U.S. Open tennis player, as it turns out.) As he and Graf began nesting, they bought key Kreiss pieces for their home, often customizing them to fit their needs and aesthetic. Fast forward a few years later, and Michael Kreiss called them up and asks them to design a line for his showroom.
According to Kreiss, Graf likes "symmetry and strong shapes; [Agassi] likes texture, comfort, and a little more serendipity. They wanted emphasis on indoors and outdoors. And they wanted comfort and practicality--for their kids and kids in general."
After taking a look at some of the pieces from the Agassi Graf line, we were pleasantly surprised with the details: woven dark leather matched with a light chenille cushions; intricate wire designs with the patio chair (titled "The Tennis Ball"); and a curvy cabana that really would look nice poolside.

I don't think Agassi and Graf are nearly as talented as Kathy Ireland and Cindy Crawford!

I think one of the keys here probably is that these are made by Kreiss. Graf and Agassi may have helped design the furniture, but I'm sure the refined sensibilities of the Kreiss family figure in heavily to the overall finished piece. I love Kreiss design and furniture.

As much as I like and respect both Agassi and Graf - and think they make an engaging couple - I must admit I am unsure about them as a furniture design duo.

Perfect furniture for my patio parties -- where I'll serve Paul Newman salad dressing and Erik Estrada chips, while wearing my Wayne Gretsky casual wear!
