I am off on my journey...
Things I’ll miss about LA:
- The freshest fruits and vegetables ever
- Watching the sun set over the ocean
- “Sweat your prayers” Dance classes
- Great MC vintage finds for cheap on the east side
- My beloved friends (who I never leave… but I will desperately miss until I see them next)
Things I wont miss about LA:
- Pedestrian right of way
- Houses that are built with total disregard for the neighborhood’s overall aesthetic.
- Constantly feeling judged (that’s not necessarily LA’s fault- but...)
Ill be checking in while on the road and once I'm settled I'll be back to help out. I want to thank everyone for reading, commenting, kvelling, complaining, and in general, making this AT:LA blogging experience one that I won’t soon forget.
Best of luck to the new LA editors!
Thank you all.
xxoo

Alec you should have a book or something some day.
thank you for the continual inspiration
Alec:
Have a safe trip and good luck on your new (old) coast!
I'll miss reading you everyday on AT:LA - be sure to keep us posted...
What city?
Good luck, Alec!
Oh my! Best wishes! Have fun!
ROAD TRIP!
Small diners. Interesting exits. Signs directing you to places you've never been. Scenery luring you to take your eyes off the road. Radio stations fading in and out. Looking for license plates from other states. Trying to figure out what some license plates mean (the personalized ones). Neat old cheap motels, with the U-shaped arrangement of rooms, like little houses and a swimming pool in the center. Truck stops where nobody is a local, other than the waitress, who's passing time until she's discovered.
The destination is known, but how you get there is subject to change. Ahhhh, the short cuts that take you through a whole lotta nothin' which is just what your mind needed.
Wait! I forgot to give you something before you left!
***digging around in junk drawer***
"HERE, Alec, this is for YOU!"
***holding up cat chewed pencil***
"oh, gee, you don't like it, wait, that wasn't it, it was..."
***digging around in junk drawer***
"HERE, this is REALLY want I wanted you to have"
***holding up packet of heart shaped foil glitter with hole in bag***
"There, now you can leave you heart everywhere, and take all of ours with you in your journey!"
Where is Alec moving? I've asked a few times with no reply...
I'll really miss him.
Holly
Holly, I think he's part of the BPP (Blogger Protection Programme) and can't tell anyone.
Where's Alec now? There should be a big map with a push pin indicating his current location. Or one of those animated cartoon maps with a dotted line, showing him going around in circles or wiggling his way across the U.S.
Maybe he'll stop in all the sightseeing worthy places. Like Pueblo, Colorado, where all those free government publications come from. Sure would like to see that. ;)
Hey everyone!!
What a trip so farÂ… IÂ’ve been driving nights (to avoid traffic and over-heating) and sleeping days. Not so much sight seeing but the highlights so far have been Santa Fe and Des Moines. Santa Fe carries a spirit that runs deep, yaÂ’llÂ… I was awed by the potteryÂ… the craftsmanship is like nothing I have ever seen. I'd like to think I was there to find god, but I mostly just found great shops...go figure.
I am now in Des Moines Iowa at the most stunning (queer) B&B on 100 acres of land on the Raccoon River. If they could make coffee that wasnÂ’t so see-through, I might be persuaded to stay forever. Next stop Chicago, and then NYC, where IÂ’ll party hearty with my east coast friends then off to Lenox MA for the summer. Come the fall, I hope to call NYC home
Â…it shouldnÂ’t be too hard to find a cheap apartment in the village and a good job, right?

Alec
Hey Alec good luck in NYC! BTW - where did you take the "Sweat Your Prayers" classes - I am a big Gabrielle Roth fan...
Thanks.
:)
In a few days i'm leaving NYC after calling this city home for 3 years to go back to my home - Los Angeles. I'm so happy to have AT to bridge the gap between my two loves.
Good luck Alec!
Alec!!!! WHERE are the pictures? Oh, yeah, driving at night.

Tell the folks at the B&B about the coffee. There are many of us out here that think that coffee should not only be opaque, but should either dissolve a spoon or hold a spoon upright in the mug. If the coffee alone would make people stay an extra day, I think they can spiff it up a bit.
Hey, maybe we can get you into the Good Questions area! For both a well-paid position and swell new digs! If I were moving, and had a nice place, it would be great to pass on the info to someone that was looking for a new home from AT.
Uh...any chance we might have a "Rentals" section in the Resources area? Where building owners could advertise? Dang, imagine if some of the SCC people were moving!
"Um, yeah, just leave ALL your stuff, right where it is, and it looks mighty fine to me! I wasn't really going to move, but now that YOUR space is opening up, I'll just have to move!"
How'd the Grand Canyon look? At night? I guess it was really dark and you couldn't see anything. At least you didn't do an accidental Thelma and Louise in the dark.
