September is Adornment Month! Lots of things are happening here on AT in anticipation for next month's Color Contest. We're thinking about all the ways we "adorn" our homes- adding those important personal touches, which can include artwork on the walls, photographs, wallpaper, decals, faux finishes, and even DIY projects. The image above is from ATLA reader Mmadden, who tagged her flickr image with apartmenttherapyla. She created this simple but highly effective art piece for a blank wall in her bathroom. Looks great Mmadden! Share with us what you've done- email us at la (at) apartmenttherapy (dot) com, or tag your flickr image like Mmadden did.

My apt. isnt quite ready for it's close-up yet. I love making things myself, but also really love collecting and hanging the artwork of others. I think it creates a unique richness to a space - not the crappy cookie cutter ikea "art" that I'm seeing more and more often. My town supports a huge art 'tag sale' every summer, open studio tours, 3 independent cafe's showing local artists, and about a half dozen craft/art galleries featuring local work. It's a huge boon to the artists and craftspeople to have their work shown and sold - but it also benefits the people who buy the work in ways that an 'art print' from Target wont.

I have five different folded patterns up in the apt. I'm also in the middle of a collage project right now, hoping to hang it around the end of the month.
