Silver Lake's: Maltman Bungalows

10_07bungalow2.jpg

Maltman Bungalows located in Silver Lake are historic 1926 [previously attached rentals] 1 and 2 bedroom cottages that have been turned into separate purchaseable units. Though no information is given about the square footage of these lovelys we would bet our britches that they would qualify for next year's Coolest, Smallest.

According to their FAQ's they are not condominims, but
"A new City of Los Angeles ordinance has allowed us to offer the Bungalows for sale as true single-family homes, each on its own separate, individual plot of land owned in fee simple.
There are no common walls or traditional homeowners’ association. There is simply a low-fee maintenance association to make caring for the landscape, driveway and utilities more convenient for the owners."

Prices start at $499k and go to $559k. The units look well done and rehab looks good from the photos but we still can't wrap our head around 499k for a one bedroom. You will own the land though instead of just the air pocket inside a condo which is a plus if you like that whole "dirt-owning-thing".

I'm usually weary of new construction but I love the traditional fixtures and woodwork in these bungalows.

Oops, just read that they are remodels. No wonder they have so much character.

This is just down the street from me.
I always thought this place was cute, but I dread to think how much they cost.
